CONVICT BURIALS .. Trove Tuesday 19th Sep 2023

Convicts sent to Australia have played a large part in Australian History. They were sent to New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia some years later. South Australia wasn't keen on having them, though some did end up there.. a story for another time.
The article below are just a few to recognise the number of convicts buried in Australia. Further links are added at the end of this page.

Something a little different this time.. transfers re the Post Master General, known as PMG, and Military Transfers. It also includes some who were retired also. These are from a number of states and are just from a couple of years. TROVE has many such offerings, over many more years, allowing some of us to find much more on our ancestors.

As always you can click to enlarge or go to the initial post via the underlined link provided.

NATURALISATION CERTIFICATES Trove Tuesday 22nd August 2023

These are a selection of events over various months, and states published in the Commonwealth of Australia gazette. Each page may have several dates.

You can click on the image to enlarge or click the link to go to the original. These notices include the address that the person mentioned was living at when the certificate was granted.

Where these posts can help is by looking for electoral rolls, newspapers, and maybe even cemeteries to see where your 'lost' people had been living at various times.

RETURNED SOLDIERS WW1.... Trove Tuesday 8th Nov 2022

With Armistice Day on Friday 11th November, it seemed the right time to acknowledge some of the many soldiers who did return from WW1. Of course, there were many from all services, women included.

These clippings are but a few from many available through TROVE. You can find many records through Record Search  as well as other websites including

Defence and War Service records

Department of Veteran's Affairs

Australian War Memorial

We thank them all for their service.
