CONVICTS ASSIGNED & TRANSFERRED BETWEEN 1-30TH APRIL 1832 Trove Tuesday 7th September 2021

This extensive list gives a few details re the convicts...

Surname, name, ship on which they had been transported to Australia, trade/s, and master/mistress convict assigned to and place. If there is a number after the ship's name, that refers to the voyage.

Many ships made several journeys to and from Australia.

These lists can be of help to trace your ancestors and can help us to learn more about their skills etc. Some convicts stayed in the same area till they were pardoned or given a certificate of freedom ..perhaps even died in the area.  To find more about them, there are a number of sites as well as TROVE to try to trace them. Look in the newspapers of the area, look in sites such as Convict Records,  Claim a Convict, Trial records - Convicts- National Library of Australia to name just a few.

ABSCONDED CONVICTS JUL 1844 Trove Tuesday 27th Oct 2020

These lists contain far more detail than most other lists... enough to make you hope that one of your convicts did abscond.

Do check these lists even if you aren't aware of any convicts to date ..this would certainly help you on your way if this is the first time you have come across a familiar name. Also a point to remember is that it is worth investigating if you find a similar name with different spelling.

Details include name, ship convict arrived on and what voyage, age, home
town, occupation, height, complexion, hair and eye colour, tattoos, where they absconded from and when...
