TROVE TUESDAY 5TH SEPT. 2017... HEADLINES 100 YEARS AGO

What better way to give an idea of the times than to see how many theatres were active in Brisbane 100 years ago, or at least, those who were active on Sept. 5, 1917...

Then this was also news.. a court case, written in far more detail than is sometime seen today, but with a great way of allowing the readers to work out 'the unsaid' for themselves...

If the stories in the 'pictures' were intriguing and involved, then surely this case would make a great 'picture'...

The Grafton Daily Examiner was far 'quieter'...


I wonder if the Walsh mentioned was part of my Uncle's family, more to follow up.. though I don't see a G. Walsh in my tree.. as yet.

There was only one Family Notice...


There was a poisoning however...




and something very much valued and admired by the local community...

Well done, Private Kelly we are proud of you as we are of your brother, Lieut. C.B. Kelly, who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of us all.


Such contrasts in those times, as there are today...
