LIST OF ALL FEMALE CONVICTS TRANSFERRED BETWEEN 1ST JAN -31ST JULY 1832

Convicts, both male and female, could be transferred to another position for many reasons... if they weren't able to do the work that that they'd beeen sent to do, became ill or feeble, had a 'bad attitude' or they were no longer needed... just to name a few.

With females, however, there were a number of cases whereby the convicts had made a complaint against the master about assaults, mostly physical and rather than prosecute a free settler, the convict would sometimes be moved on.

A number of the women married the farmer or master that they had been assigned to, then they weren't too happy with other women being around. TROVE is a great place to unearth all manner of stories... you never know what you can find.

While the lists above are great in tracking a small part of a convict's life, you may find more by searching for the name of your convict and the area they were shown as being in. Look also for the name of the person they were assigned or transferred to... check the births, deaths, marriages in the area... look up cemetery indexes...
While not all is online, so much is added on a regular basis, that it often pays to return to earlier searches.

I'd love to hear if you have any success by starting with these lists.
