MILITARY, Appointments, Retirements, etc. Trove Tuesday 7th Jun 2022

 

Military notices, particularly in Government Gazettes, can add a whole lot more to ancestors histories. Not all our families were aware of the various transfers, appointments, etc. that our ancestors were given. 

Our National Australian Archives, NAA, has a great site called Record Search.. which includes various sections including war records, service, conflicts such as the Boer war, etc. For Defence and war records, go here    It's a comparatively easy site to navigate. 

RecordSearch covers all manner of things and it's easy to get lost there 'just browsing'.

Did you know that there is a Flickr site that has images of hundreds of WW1 servicemen?
