MISSING PERSONS Trove Tuesday 7th Nov 2023

These are selected randomly and are from between the years 1930-1938. They are all sourced from TROVE.
Two hints that some may not think of...
* don't dismiss these notices because of where they are published ...our ancestors often moved around more than we realise.
*  whenever you're searching for a particular name, and come across the same or very similar surname, it is often worthwhile to save the information in a 'Maybe' file...particularly when looking for those 'missing'. Often just surnames were changed e.g. Browne became Brown, or they abbreviated from names like Woodward to Wood... I'm sure you have found some variations in your own trees.
You know the drill, click to enlarge or follow the link where given..... happy hunting.

  1. I have located a few in my family research it takes persistence. My husband's grandfather was a tough one until I followed his father's unusual middle name and hit the jackpot he had changed his name for some reason.

  2. TROVE often the only way to track down missing/hiding persons esp when they randomly change names, or have stage names; search for hobbies, pastimes, interests, sporting activities, occupations,; features -- wooden leg; blind in one eye etc. example
    advert in Adelaide Advertiser 20-1-1925
    "Notice.—Wanted, anyone knowing where
abouts of Leo Elliott, known in theatrical
spheres as Leo Kelvin. Please communicate
with “B.S.A.” this office. New Zealand and
Tasmanian papers please copy." Found the relative , but would like to know who BSA was.

    1. Thanks for your comment, Mike. It sure does challenge us at times, however, determination and perseverance often pays off.
