ABSCONDED CONVICTS Trove Tuesday 1st Jun 2021

These are prisoners who have absconded from their employers or designated areas..."some have stolen Certificates and Tickets of Leave".. others have simply slipped away. They knew the risk they were taking and that they could be severely punished or had their terms extended, but for some, the risk seemed worth it.

There are comprehensive descriptions of those listed which is also a great benefit.

If you're 'missing an ancestor', these lists may give you a reason why. The lists of those who were apprehended could also give you answers.
