NEWS OF THE WEEK... 1908... TROVE TUESDAY 1st Sept. 2020

Albury Town Hall  built in 1908
A very popular column in some of the local newspapers was called News of the Week.

It was a collection of snippets from all over the world... local, national, international....  not at all confined to the area of publication.
This column stayed around for some years.. the following is just a small selection ... maybe you will find names of interest, maybe more about the areas your ancestors lived. There are also ads interspersed with news... they can be interesting in themselves.

Mudgee Guardian and North-Western Representative (NSW : 1890 - 1954), Thursday 23 July 1908, page 12.  National Library of Australia   http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article157665446

Look through your family history... look for news reports about events that happened in relevant years, where possible ..in the areas they lived in. It can give you a better understanding of the lives they lived. What was happening the year they were born, when they went to school... what did their school look like, was it big or small? When did they marry, did their partner come from the same area, did they travel? So many questions, but even with a few answers, you can flesh out their stories, understand their journey.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be no TROVE TUESDAY post next week, 8th September. It will return on the 15th. Thank you for your support.
