ABSCONDED CONVICTS... Trove Tuesday 2nd Mar 2021

ABSCONDED CONVICTS

Surprisingly, there is more detail about absconded prisoners  most times than in any other notices, though Tasmanian records do have a lot of detail about their convicts.

In the notices below, you will see the following..
Name of convict, also alias if applicable.. Ship of arrival and number of voyage..Age, place of former residence, Occupation. Physical description including height, complexion, colour of hair and eyes, tattoos or markings, deformities if any..
Sometimes crime committed, where prisoner absconded from and the date they did so.
In the lists of the apprehended, they give the name and alias if applicable, the ship they arrived on and the master they were assigned to as well as place/area.

Are any of your convicts listed? Do you recognise names you are researching, but hadn't thought of the possibility of them being a convict? Do note that some women are also named in these lists. I have included some images, and a list, of some of the ships mentioned...
