They were very helpful during the war years .. often the only way of keeping up with leave of those enlisted, the places they were seconded to and anything else that the public was able to share.
Of course, special birthdays, such as Mrs. T.W. McDonald's 80th birthday, was acknowledged as having been celebrated on 15th March..in Dandenong in 1942.
